Opium Poppy

"Opium poppy has the power to heal and the power to destroy, depending on how it is used."

Opium poppy, also known as Papaver somniferum, is a plant that has been cultivated for thousands of years for its medicinal and recreational properties. The plant produces a milky sap that contains alkaloids including morphine and codeine which are used to produce pain relievers such as opium, heroin and fentanyl.

While opium poppy has some legitimate medical uses, it is also a highly addictive substance and can lead to overdose and death if misused. Therefore, it is essential to carefully regulate its production and distribution to prevent abuse.

Opium poppy is an important crop for many countries, particularly in Asia where it has been a part of traditional medicine and culture for centuries.
