"I love to hop from here to there.
Make a quick stop to catch some air!”
Around the world people hold varying opinions about rabbits. Some see them as adorable pets while others see them as pests. The conservation status of European rabbit is Near Threatened. Let's understand how rabbits benefit our environment.
- Rabbits eat a wide variety of plants, thereby preventing fast-growing weeds from overgrowing. This ultimately encourages more biodiversity among the plants in our ecosystem.Their excreta are rich in nutrients which regenerate soil that in turn helps in the growth of new plants.
- Rabbits are an important source of food. Most species of rabbit reproduce very quickly thereby supporting the predators all year long. They do not hibernate in winter and so predators can hunt them even when other food sources are scarce.
Presenting here, few photographs of the European rabbit relishing the clover!
