Shaping urbanisation for environment

Anyone who believes in indefinite growth on a finite planet is either mad, or an economist.~ David Attenborough

Urban life style is often associated with stress, insufficient physical activity and constant exposure to environmental pollutants. Public green spaces are diminishing in cities, leading to the destruction of ecosystem. Urban green space, such as parks, playgrounds, and residential greenery, will promote the health and well-being of its residents in the following ways:

  • improve the air quality.
  • enhance physical activity.
  • providing psychological relaxation and  alleviate stress.
  • stimulate greater social cohesion.
  • reducing exposure to air pollutants, noise and excessive heat.
  • improve rainfall.
Hence, green spaces have become a haven. Presenting a few photos which show dramatic rise  of urbanisation.

  1. Greenery is so important both for physical & mental well being. We don't realise this & have really exploited nature in the name of growth & development.

  3. So true. Earths becoming more of a concrete jungle with hardly any greenery or natural beauty. Hoping this serves an an eyeopener to humans.

  4. We urgently need to have more green spaces in our cities. Let's begin from our home gardens and even small strips in our yards where we can grow plants and reap the benefit of being close to nature.
